Health Insurance Top 10 Tips (1)

Health Insurance Top 10 Tips
By : Marilyn Katz

The first main tip is to take all nationally published advice with a grain of salt. Most insurance companies, even national ones, are largely regulated at the state level. A health insurance plan from a nationally known company will vary from state to state because of regulations and operating costs.

Furthermore, your state and county may have heath plan options that are unique. Your state insurance department, county health department, and local insurance agents are great resources. If you are having a problem obtaining affordable health insurance, do not hesitate to look for help!

If your job offers a group health plan, that is probably your best option. Group health is partially supported by an employer, and probably provides more complete coverage. Some insurance, coverage, like maternity, is hard to obtain on the individual market!

Health insurance can be expensive, but the lack of health insurance can be a catastrophe. Can you really afford to pay for a hospital stay? Even an ambulance ride or visit to the emergency room can costs thousands of dollars.

Comparing health insurance plans, if you have a choice, can seem tedious and confusing. However, you will be much more satisfied if you have made an informed decision and really understand what you are buying.

Lower premiums won't always save you money if you have sacrificed coverage. You need to balance you premium with a reasonable amount of coverage for those medical costs you could not afford out of pocket.

M. Katz has helped many individuals and small business owners find affordable health insurance solutions. To help you compare health insurance, find free online insurance quotes.
