Blue Cross Blue Shield Health Insurance - Do Not Be Left Without Coverage

Blue Cross Blue Shield Health Insurance - Do Not Be Left Without Coverage
By : Michael Benifez

Blue Cross Blue Shield Health Insurance is one of the oldest, most established health insurance companies in the country. This company has been providing health insurance to generations of Americans and its customer base grows more and more each year.

I am secure in the knowledge that my family and their health is protected since I have a Blue Cross Blue Shield Health Insurance policy.
I wish I could say this was always true. For a number of years I worked as a bartender and had no insurance coverage whatsoever.

I was a nervous wreck that any accident or fall would put me in tremendous debt because I had no way to pay any hospital bills. Without my Blue Cross Blue Shield protection, I found myself not going to the doctor's, no matter how sick I was because I could not afford the price of a visit.

On one occasion, I hurt my ankle tripping over something in the dark. Even though it hurt a lot, I went home on it and saw that it was twisted and badly sprained. But there was no way I could go to the hospital without Blue Cross Blue Shield health insurance.

I had already learned that lesson the hard way. The last time I injured myself and went to the emergency room, I incurred an incredible debt. The cost of an emergency room visit is incredibly expensive, and so I have to make payments on this debt that I still owe.

At the time, I felt I could not avoid going to the hospital. I had a bad case of strep throat and If I was not treated with antibiotics, I would not be able to go to work. As a bartender, not going to work meant not getting paid. Even though I knew the visit would be very expensive, I had no choice but to go to the hospital and then try to work out a payment plan for the visit.

I was in a cubicle for a total of ten minutes, and the visit cost me $200. That worked out to $10 per minute. Since I do not make $60 an hour, I knew I could not afford to do that again. That experience really made me realize that I literally could not afford to be without Blue Cross Blue Shield Health Insurance.

To add insult to injury, besides charging me for the room, the hospital charged me for every little thing involved in the visit, including the antibiotics, of course, but also for such items as the gloves the doctor wore when he examined me.

Spending five dollars for one pair of latex gloves made me determine to start looking for a Blue Cross Blue Shield Insurance Plan that I could afford. I have never regretted that decision.
